A Meaningful Morning at Yatim Indonesia School: A Collaboration of Hope

It was a bright Sunday morning in Depok. At a modest school dedicated to orphaned children, joy filled the air as students gathered early, their faces glowing with excitement. Teachers stood at the gate, warmly welcoming each child — as if saying, “Today is going to be different.”
And it truly was. That day, two Rotary Clubs from across the world came together with a shared mission: to support basic education and literacy for children in need. Rotary Club of Jakarta Cinere joined hands with Rotary eClub One from the United States — two clubs that had recently become Twin Clubs, now united not only in purpose but in action.
In this first phase, they donated a laptop with installed software, a Bluetooth speaker, and nearly a thousand items including notebooks, drawing books, Iqro books, and markers. These were more than just supplies — they were windows to a broader world, long out of reach for many of these students.
One teacher held back tears as the new laptop was powered on for the first time. “This is more than a teaching tool,” she whispered. “It’s a bridge that connects our children to a bigger world.” She knew the struggle of teaching with limited resources — but on this day, she didn’t feel alone.
Children unwrapped their new books with sparkling eyes. A small boy held his notebook tightly and softly said, “I want to learn computers, so I can become a teacher too.” Even at his young age, he already understood the power of knowledge and the beauty of giving back.
After the handover ceremony, the children were treated to burgers and milk — a small yet thoughtful gesture that made them feel seen and cherished. In between the laughter and smiles, the Rotary team sat down with the school’s foundation for a heartfelt discussion about the future, especially how to empower the dedicated teachers who give their all every single day.
This collaboration wasn’t just about giving supplies. It was a living example of compassion that transcends distance — a reflection of the Service Above Self spirit that knows no boundaries.
Because Rotary is, and has always been, a bridge — connecting kind hearts from different parts of the world who want to do good, regardless of nationality, culture, or language. Under the banner of service, Rotary transforms sincere intentions into meaningful actions. For a brighter tomorrow. For a more compassionate world.
